Play free and fight your way through the legions of hell! Risen from the grave to fight the terrors of Hades — you are the Altered Beast. Combat waves of demons, overcome grotesque boss battles, and tear the armies of the damned limb from limb! All rights reserved. Altered Beast is one of those games that you remember being terrible from childhood, but when I decided to pick this up on mobile I was pleasantly surprised. The controls are great, the levels have variety, the bosses are simplistic yet satisfying and the presentation is atmospheric. Great Game, I really only have one minor gripe is that you have to pay to be able to play it without ads. If whoever does the Sega Forever line of classics can stop this two dollar B. The game is good nevertheless, going back to the 90s to play the nostalgic beat-em-up on a really annoying piece of mechanisms. The shocking age-rating is why the 3-Star rating from me is shown.

About This Game
After its initial arcade release, it was ported to several home video game consoles and home computers. The primary designer was Makoto Uchida, also responsible for the creation of Golden Axe. In ancient Greece, a Centurion who had died in battle is resurrected from the dead by Zeus. The Centurion is ordered by Zeus to save his daughter Athena , who had been kidnapped by Neff. After a series of battles, the centurion finally defeats Neff and rescues Athena. In the original arcade game, the end credits are interspersed with images of actors in costumes for the different characters and monsters of the game, implying the whole game was a film production. Altered Beast is a side scrolling, platform, beat 'em up game. The player can punch, kick and jump.
Striking a dire tone halfway between the fantasy schlock that remained a gaming staple and the stone-faced pulp of Robert E. Howard, Altered Beast is full of vile swamps, grotesque head-throwing demon lords, and heavy-metal transmogrification. Truth to tell, Altered Beast is kind of terrible. But playing Altered Beast is vintage arcade misery, with enemies that come out of nowhere, instant deaths, and boss fights built for the sole purpose of bilking you out of a quarter. What follows that ridiculous introduction is so strange, yet soberly presented, that you either have to walk away immediately or surrender to the idea that this is totally righteous. Not only does Zeus actually bring the two main characters back to life—apparently a couple of leotard-wearing Barbarella extras were buried in ancient Greece—but these guys turn into massive beefcakes when they touch floating blue balls that erupt out of dead albino wolves. Gods with speech impediments, demon lords that turn into giant plants made of eyeballs , towers of flesh that rain devil heads down on wolf men — Altered Beast is deeply, deeply silly. Just look at the mystified expression on the character after his transformation into a bear. This just makes Altered Beast another self-serious blip in the video game pantheon.
